Historically, black women artists have been systematically excluded from the mainstream art world. Teen photographers and artists from Shooting Without Bullets sit on the steps of the Cleveland Museum as if it is their stoop. Black women are art. When we address the challenges they face we create a more vibrant creative economy for us all.

For Freedoms partnered with The Guardian and Amanda D. King of @shootingwithoutbullets to present five billboards in the city of Cleveland in collaboration with the paper’s CITY CHAMPIONS series. I was one of the chosen collaborating artists to highlight pressing issues being tackled by communities in Cleveland.
